Riot Games sneak peek at a new weapon skin pack today for Bucky, Phantom, Odin, and Frenzy, alongside an ordinary-looking melee. The skins hit stores tomorrow and feature a motion scanner.
These weapon skins are mostly metallic gray and feature a small screen in different places depending on the weapon, which lights up green to represent some sort of Xeno detection system. These skins are the perfect additions to any loadout for those interested in hunting monsters or aliens. Unlike previous weapon skins, these Xenohunter cosmetics give the weapons a realistic feel with their metal exterior and red iron sights.
This military theme is also present in the melee, which has been slightly modified from the original default knife skin. The blade is almost identical to the default skin, the handle being different with four triangular cutouts and some sort of string attached to the base. While the weapon skins fit a military theme, some Twitter users weren’t impressed that these skins are just a slight variation from the default ones.
The feature that makes these skins different from the default is the screen attached to the weapons that shows the player’s position as they walk around the map.
As shown on the a video of VALORANTS when the weapon skins were announced, the Phantom’s screen shows the player walking around and “scanning” the area with the screen turning off when the player is covered in Jett smoke. It is unclear if these screens feature enemies as they appear in the player’s line of sight.
